A scary magician was on hand to entertain the crowd and there was plenty of food and drink to enjoy! The night just seemed to fly by…just like the ghosts!!

Wednesday, 8 October 2008

With the sun waning overhead, a flock of young professionals in Milton Keynes gathered at the Wavendon Arms on 11 September 2008 to wave goodbye to the summer at MK's third New Friday event.

Top notch BBQ grub was the order of the day, with a cowpat competition and a spot of golf for entertainment on the side.

Thanks to sponsors PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Shoosmiths, the attendees were fed and watered in style and had the energy to keep on networking long after the sun went down!

The next event for New Friday Thames Valley is being held straight after work from 5.30pm onwards on Thursday 21 August 2008 at Walkabout, Wiston Terrace (Off Friar Street), Reading RG1 1DG.

What is New Friday?
New Friday Thames Valley is an initiative to give young professionals in Reading an opportunity to get together at a social event and network informally. No agenda, no speakers and no stuffiness involved- just a few glasses of vino, some nibbles and a good laugh designed to help you build your own network of contacts.

Southampton welcomes New Friday

To quell the heat of the ravishing summer of 2008, the coolest New Friday event took place at the 90Degrees Bar in Southampton on 31 July with an ice sculpture that even Picasso would've been proud of. The piano was playing as the South's premier young professionals who were bored with the norm gathered for a fun filled evening of networking over a few drinks and nibbles.

Thanks to all those who attended, particular thanks go to the sponsors, accountancy firm BDO Stoy Hayward, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and law firm Shoosmiths. Thanks also to the staff at the 90Degrees Bar and to the photographer.

The next event will be taking place in the Autumn and we look forward to seeing you all there. If you haven't signed up to the event already, please email registerSO@newfriday.com to register your interest.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Milton Keynes - New Friday Sessions

An acoustic guitar, a couple of microphones, a cello and an exhaust pipe, there were ‘no tricks’ at the latest Milton Keynes New Friday event …just live music.

New Friday, Milton Keynes held an open mic night titled “New Friday Sessions” featuring young ‘up and coming’ local musicians. They ranged from an acoustic guitar band, a jazz pianist, a classical singer and a beat boxer who used an exhaust pipe to create some amazing sounds.

The night finished with several of the musicians getting on stage to improvise the finale. Completely original, no rehearsals, live and unplugged, the musicians were creative and the crowd were definitely impressed!

New Friday’s (MK) intention was to promote young professional networking in the area and support young musicians in the local music scene.

We have several people to thank including the sponsors, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Pricewaterhouse Cooper and Shoosmiths. We would also like to thank the venue Opus in Central Milton Keynes but most importantly the musicians: The Louis Hanshaw Band, Peter Daley, Emily Haig, Grant Reeves and Speeding Mellow.
