An acoustic guitar, a couple of microphones, a cello and an exhaust pipe, there were ‘no tricks’ at the latest Milton Keynes New Friday event …just live music.
New Friday, Milton Keynes held an open mic night titled “New Friday Sessions” featuring young ‘up and coming’ local musicians. They ranged from an acoustic guitar band, a jazz pianist, a classical singer and a beat boxer who used an exhaust pipe to create some amazing sounds.
The night finished with several of the musicians getting on stage to improvise the finale. Completely original, no rehearsals, live and unplugged, the musicians were creative and the crowd were definitely impressed!
New Friday’s (MK) intention was to promote young professional networking in the area and support young musicians in the local music scene.
We have several people to thank including the sponsors,
The Royal Bank of Scotland,
Pricewaterhouse Cooper and
Shoosmiths. We would also like to thank the venue
Opus in Central Milton Keynes but most importantly the musicians:
The Louis Hanshaw Band,
Peter Daley,
Emily Haig, Grant Reeves and Speeding Mellow.
Watch your email for announcements and news about the next New Friday event. We won't be away for long!
All the best
The New Friday Team
